Trek, GT & Giant Bicycles with SR Suntour Suspension Forks Recalled

The Northwest Indiana personal injury law firm, Schlyer & Associates, the Aggressive Trial Lawyers, is warning of a recall issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission of about 17,000 GT, Giant and Trek Bicycles with SR Suntour Suspension Forks.

According to the recall notice, the suspension fork's internal support tubes can break and cause the rider to lose control, fall and crash. This recall involves the following GT, Giant and Trek bicycles with SR Suntour suspension forks. "SR Suntour" and the date code are printed on the back of the fork crown.

The recalled bikes were sold at various specialty bicycle stores nationwide from April 2011 through March 2012 for between $400 and $600.

If you have one of the recalled GT, Giant or Trek bikes, you should stop using bicycles with these forks immediately and return the bicycles to any authorized GT, Giant or Trek dealer for a free repair. You can also contact SR Suntour toll-free at (855) 205-2453 for more information.

Nan Far Woodworking Recalls Cribs Sold at J.C. Penney

The Northwest Indiana personal injury law firm, Schlyer & Associates, the Aggressive Trial Lawyers, is warning of a recall issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission of 16,700 Rockland Furniture Drop-side Cribs, sold exclusively at J.C.Penney.

According to the recall notice, the cribs' drop sides can malfunction, detach or otherwise fail, causing part of the drop side to fall out of position, creating a space into which an infant or toddler can roll and become wedged or entrapped, which can lead to strangulation or suffocation. A child can also fall out of the crib. Drop-side incidents can also occur due to incorrect assembly and with age-related wear and tear.

The recalled cribs were sold at J.C. Penney stores and online at jcpenney.com from January 2005 through December 2008 for between $150 and $400.

Toy Truck Gifts Recalled - Sold Exclusively at Kohl's

The Northwest Indiana personal injury law firm, Schlyer & Associates, the Aggressive Trial Lawyers, is warning of a recall issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission of about 9,000 toy truck gifts with boy's t-shirts imported by Happy Shirts, of Honolulu, Hawaii and sold exclusively at Kohl's stores nationwide.

According to the recall notice, connections in the toy trucks battery compartment can smolder or catch the trucks on fire, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers.

The recalled shirt / toy were sold at Kohl's stores nationwide and www.Kohls.com between February 2012 and March 2012 for about $20.

If you have any of the recalled shirts / toys, you should immediately take the toy trucks from children and remove the battery. Consumers can contact Happy Shirts at (855) 354-2779 for instructions on returning the truck for a refund.

Westinghouse Ceiling Fans Recalled - Shock and Fire Hazards

Safety 1st Cabinet Locks Recalled - Locks Can Fail

The Merrillville personal injury law firm, Schlyer & Associates, the Aggressive Trial Lawyers, is warning of a recall issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission of about 900,000 Push ‘N Snap Cabinet Locks imported by Dorel Juvenile Group (DJG) Inc., of Columbus, Indiana.

According to the recall notice, young children can disengage the cabinet locks, allowing access to cabinet contents and posing the risk of injury, due to dangerous or unsafe items. DJG has received 200 reports of locks that did not adequately secure the cabinet, including reports of damaged locks. Of the reported incidents, the firm is aware of 140 children between the ages of 9 months and 5 years who were able to disengage the locks and gain access to the cabinet’s contents. In three of the reported incidents, the children who gained access swallowed or handled dishwashing detergent, window cleaner or oven cleaner, and were treated, observed and released from emergency treatment centers.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recall involves Safety 1st Push ‘N Snap cabinet locks with model numbers 48391 and 48442. The model numbers are printed on the back of the product and on packaging. The locks are used to secure cabinets with two straps that wrap around the knobs or handles on a cabinet door. When the product is in the “lock” position, a green triangle is shown through a window on the device. The Safety 1st logo is embossed on the front of the lock. Locks manufactured between January 2004 and November 2010 are included in the recall. The date of manufacture is embossed on the back. The arrow on the date wheel points to the month and the numbers of either side of arrow represent the year of manufacture.

The recalled locks were sold at Bed Bath & Beyond, and other retail stores nationwide and online at Amazon.com from January 2004 through February 2012 for between $2 and $4.

If you have any of the recalled locks, you should immediately remove the recalled locks from cabinets and contact DJG at (866) 762-3212 for a free replacement Push ‘N Snap lock with model numbers HS158 or HS159. When removing the recalled locks, consumers are urged to immediately store dangerous items out of reach of children.

Reward Offered For Missing Doctor

Our former client, Dr. Promila Mehta Paul is still missing and her family is offering rewards for information. The Highland and Munster, Indiana police departments need your help to locate her and information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) who are responsible for her death.

We were Dr. Mehta's personal injury lawyers in prior car crashes. She was involved in two separate accidents, including one crash with her ex-husband, Dr. Shashi Damon Paul. Dr. Paul is a pediatrician with an office in Munster, Indiana.

The various Northwest Indiana newspapers The Times and the Post Tribune have published stories about the reward offered for Dr. Mehta. Fire Hazard Prompts Lenovo Recall Of ThinkCentre Desktop Computers

The Northwest Indiana personal injury law firm of Schlyer & Associates, the Aggressive Trial Lawyers, is warning of a recall issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, of 50,500 Lenovo ThinkCentre M70z and M90z desktop computers since a defect in an internal component in the power supply can overheat and pose a fire hazard.

According to the recall notice, the recalled all-in-one desktop computers, or PCs, are flat-panel monitors with the PC integrated into the monitor housing itself. The power supplies are also inside the monitor or PC housing. The computer chassis has a matte black finish with the brand name "ThinkCentre" in the lower left hand corner of the monitor front. The recalled desktop model numbers are M90z and M70z along with the serial number and manufacturing date code can be found on a label on the underside of the unit. Only certain of the M70z and M90z computers built in this time frame are affected. Consumers will need to check the serial number on their computer with Lenovo to determine if it is subject to this recall.

The recalled computers were sold online at Lenovo’s websites, by telephone and direct sales through Lenovo authorized distributors nationwide from May 2010 through January 2012 for about $500 for the M70z model and $800 for the M90z model.

If you have one of the recalled computers, you should immediately stop using the computer, unplug the power supply and contact Lenovo toll-free at (855)248-2194to determine if your computer is included in the recall and to schedule an appointment for a free replacement of the power supply.
